Running Accomplishments:

-I'm an avid runner and crossfitter turned obstacle racer.  This year has brought on new and unexpected opportunities racing in Spartan races.  I'm in love with this new challenging part of my life.

Here is what I've come away with so far

Short-Term Running Goals:

I am working to become the best obstacle  racer I can be.  If that goes hand in hand with a National Championship title, than I will have met 2 of my goals/dreams.

 

Long-Term Running Goals:

Another sub 3 hour marathon

Sub 1:20 half marathon

I want to complete an ironman and some ultra races.

I Hope to be running until I'm 100.

 

Personal:

I have 2 boys (7 and 4) and a little girl (14 months) that keep me on my toes and make life worth living..  I've been married to my better half (Jim clark) for 10 years.  I teach fitness classes and am a personal trainer - my 2nd love is Zumba!  I love what i do!

I hold Obstacle Training Groups at my house on saturdays -I feel so blessed to be able to help others.

6 miles pushing stroller.  My kids are such troopers.  Ivy just loves stroller rides and goes right to sleep.  At one point I had a "runner's emergency" and had to hop off the road into a field.  Bad timing though as a car pulled around the corner while in progress.  The funniest part is that now isaac is telling everyone that I poop outside.  I've got to laugh at it right?

massage with april - She says that I need to wear some more structured shoes...ummm...I don't know bout that.  Got the knots out of my calves though.

4 miles on tread - feet were not great.  Wore my frees and I wonder if I'm going to have to leave them behind for a while:(  I'm trying to massage/roll the calves and feet everyday and I'm thinking it's helping.  This just sucks.  i know it could be way worse and is more of an irritation at this point.  I just hope it doesn't get worse.

7 miles to highway and back----in the wind!!!!!  Great workout.

Family was down for the baby blessing, so we went on the overlook hike in zion.  My family is seriously so amazing, and it was so wonderful to have them here. 

My little girl is growing up so fast!!! She rolled over today (10 weeks old) and is so alert and attentive.  She is such a joy and I'm trying to treasure all my moments with her:)

Another night run - I love being by myself in the moonlight.  It seriously is so relaxing.  I got to try out my new headlamp too. 

Wore sauconys and my heels were ok some of the time, not on others.  i don't know what to do with them.  Might have to get a more structured shoe:(

1:10 on the bike trainer with H.I.T. workout.  I'm sad but I think I'm going to have to lay off the trainer for a while.  My ankle muscles/tendons are just screaming by the end, and they ached all night.  i don't know if it's the trainer that is doing it or the bike ( I suspect the trainer).  grrrr

Jim went to work without telling me today, so I had to resort to the dreadmill.  Thankfully enough, my feet felt great!  I wore my sauconys and think I'll stick mainly with them til i get better.  I even did a couple miles at 7:30 pace  - (that's good for me right now).

Went to the lake with my babes, and the weather was perfect.  The water was only a little nippy.

Such a beautiful run today.  I took the water tower loop while the sun was going down and the weather felt amazing.  My heels only bugged a bit - wore my sauconys.

I had to learn my turbokick round and worked on it for 1.5 hrs starting at 12 am (yuck).  Gotta get ready for tomorrow.  Feet/ankles started hurting while wearing the frees.

Taught my first Turbokick class back today!  It was actually really fun and I didn't get as breathy as i thought I would.  Ivy did great in day care so that was relieving.  My feet felt better - I wore some Nike Shox so I think that gave some heal cushioning.  I miss my frees already though!  Hoping I can work back into them once I get this under control

I stopped by the running center and tried on some new shoes - I think I'll go with the Mizuno Waverunners. They are so much heavier than I'd like, but I'll live with them.  Picked up some shoe inserts too.  This is actually going against my beliefs of what a shoe should be, but they aren't getting all better with the shoes I have.

 I really want to start running more!  But I need to get my plantars under control first.

My "long" run today was ran to the highway and back - I got some good uphill and downhill.  Feet were pretty dang good and I was excited.  They started getting a bit sore towards the end, but I'll take it.  8:09 average.

I taught my first zumba class back today and I am way sore!!!  from all the practicing i had to do.  It was a lot of fun though and am glad to be back.  i was way proud that I got myself to do the 3 miles on the tread after.

I cleaned the house cause my mom was coming this weekend, and guess who showed up at 8 pm that evening!  I was so glad that i had cleaned already!  We have a thing where we are always trying to trick each other when we go to visit.  We will show up half a day early or way before they think they are coming.  I guess she got me:)

7 miles turned into 8 miles today cause I was feeling good.  i ran into cholla and back.  Heels felt ok, but I still ended up puting feet in ice water after - it really really helps.

My knees really ached today.  It's on the sides so I think it's all tight quad related.  I didn't run but did lots of massage and rolling,  I was kind of bummed cause I wanted to run more days this week, but I think all the extra working out has taken a toll on my bod this week.  So I will try for 5 days of running next week.

I've hit another milestone - I'm running in the double digits again!  It felt hard today, and all kinds of parts of my body started hurting at one time or another, but I made it.  When i started out, my piriformis and hamstring bugged (and then went away), my feet burned about halfway through (and then went away), and my knees bugged here and there.  I officially need a massage.

I did a pretty hilly course running over the la verkin and back and averaged 8:22.  I'm just happy to see a couple miles in the 7s.  I also signed up for my first race!  Star Valley Half Marathon in July.  I'm so so excited cause it's on my old stompin ground, and I had to just watch it last year cause I was puking my guts out being preggo.

We tried to give Ivy a bottle today and she wasn't having it.  She got so MAD too!  I think she felt like we were betraying her or something.  ugh.  I need her to start taking bottles if I'm going to be able to go more than a couple hours. 

We took all the kids and went to the avengers that night and I loved it.  my boys are such action hero freaks.  I was so amazed that ivy slept through the whole thing cause it was super loud.

My mom was still in town, so i got to just wake up at 8 am and go running (heaven).  i ran the water tower loop in near perfect running weather!  My endurance is starting to feel a lot better - 7 miles is starting to feel easy again.  I did have to go a little slower today cause my piriformis was bugging me again all the way down to my hamstring.  Time to go see april!  My feet felt great though!

5 very painful miles.  My hip/ glute pain was pretty debilitating.  I think my body is still messed up from pushing out a 10 lb baby!  Anyways, I could barely run, and it was quite challenging to make it back.  Hopefully massage tomorrow will help.

I went to see April today to get this glute/hip/back thing massaged.  And it didn't really help.  She did say that I was just stressed out, and this thing would work itself out eventually.  I'm so done with it. 

I tried doing some Turbokick tonight, and only made it about 20 min before it bugged me so much I had to stop.  She suggested the chiro tomorrow - maybe that will help???

A visit to the chiropractor yielded unsatisfactory results - maybe it will help it work it out eventually though. He adjusted my back, and then did a little graston on the area.   I can't figure out what is causing the pain, but I can feel it in my gluteus minimus - even more so on downhills.

7 on the treadmill  with a little help from ibuprofen.
